Communications Assistant – Volunteer/Intern

Detailed Description

The Salvation Army currently engages over 15,000 on-going volunteers, with many thousands more joining us during campaign periods. We have hundreds of centres running programs around Australia which have potentially thousands of volunteer stories, hundreds of activities to promote - with many, many individuals and corporate volunteers looking for opportunities to assist The Salvation Army.

This is an exciting and valuable opportunity to gain experience with one of Australia’s most trusted and loved organisations.

About you and the role

The Salvation Army Volunteer Resources team are looking for a persuasive and creative Communications specialist to assist with a communications project to promote the value of volunteering internally and externally.

Help us ‘join the dots’ so we can extend our ability to help local communities by matching our potential volunteers to Salvation Army programs and activities. Bring your consultative style, curiosity and innovation to see links and opportunities, and your creativity to develop your findings into a set of clear and inspiring communications resources (such as infographics, stories, social media).

This varied and interesting role will have you delving into the workings of different departments and centres, culminating into a greater understanding of our volunteers and how they want to be involved. Be prepared to discover and be enriched by the ways in which The Salvation Army brings help and hope to Australians doing it tough. This is a wonderful and meaningful opportunity to boost your experience in a compassionate and supportive work environment.
