PARTNER PROFILE:
THE SALVATION ARMY AUSTRALIA
WHO ARE WE?
The Salvation Army is a long-standing community organisation. We’ve served the community for over 150 years in all sorts of capacities, such as social and youth work, disaster relief, humanitarian aid, employment services, international development, aged care and charity stores.

Across Australia, we work to provide shelter and meals for the homeless, employment assistance, refuge to victims of abuse, assistance to alcohol, gambling and drug addicts, counselling services, aged care services and family tracing services.

WHY ARE WE INVOLVED?
Ultimately we would prefer to move to a centralised approach for all work experience arrangements including student placements.
It’s difficult to track the outcome of a referral unless the student comes back to us with an update or we discover by chance that the student did manage to secure a placement with one of our services. With such a large organisation with hundreds of programs, it is really hard to keep abreast of what sites will take on students, who can or can't take on any more, what qualifications the student needs etc. Hence a centralised approach is required.
Really well guided and planned internship program! The team were supportive, understanding and knowledgeable and I really feel like I gained a greater understanding of Salvos and it's departments. Would highly recommend!
From the moment I walked in, I felt comfortable, supported and valued as a student intern with Salvos. The team took me under their wing and gave me really useful guidance and advice. I've even secured a part time job as a result!
